Theriak formed in 1999. However, the founder Dirk Horst wrote as a
teenager his first poems and lyrics, which later found their way into his own
songs. In the domestic Theriak-Studio in Moers, on the Lower Rhine, the
creative output is produced and recorded.
After the first success by participating in a Depeche Mode tribute album
(Songs from fans with devotion, 300 copies sold), which was produced by
the German Depeche Mode mailing list, appeared in 2002 the officially
available successor "Different Creeds - A Tribute to Depeche Mode ". On both
albums Theriak is represented with a title. Encouraged by the good response
appeared in April 2003, his first self-produced CD "It's all in our hands" with
12 varied songs that fall somewhere between Synthpop and Dark Wave.
This line was followed by several other CD release remained faithful. In 2004
he released the album "So very desert," the following year the CD was
"Stormy Souls" and in 2008 saw the completed CD "Breathe light" the light
of day.
Dirk Horst is not content only with his music. By the way, he makes remixes
for other bands and participates in various projects, including those from
other genres. In addition, he is an author and copywriter. Suitable to his
music he has written an interesting book on the Synthpop. The title is
Synthpop - The emotional coldness (Synthiepop - Die gefühlvolle Kälte).
